Audition Notice - Spitfire Girls

CODA are very pleased to announce our autumn production as the heart-warming play and inspiring true story of the Spitfire Girls by Katherine Senior.
Set on New Year’s Eve 1959, two women separated by the war meet again a decade after answering the call. As they share their story, the setting shifts back to a time when female pioneers defied expectations and soared through the skies.
Having debuted in 2025, this will be the UK’s first amateur production of Spitfire Girls telling the extraordinary true stories of the women who dared to fly during WWII and the incredible bond that tied them together. Funny and endearing, it is a story of strength, courage and loss. But above all else, hope.
The main characters in the play include:
Bett: The older sister. She is practical, protective of her sibling, and deeply devoted to her duty.
Dotty: Bett's younger sister. She is impulsive, exuberant, and brings a sense of wild passion to their wartime experience.
Joy / C.O.: The commanding officer and trainer who whips the women into shape and oversees their vital missions.
Dad / Frank: A pivotal family and foundational male figure in the sisters' lives.
Tom / Jimmy: The primary male counterparts who share romantic and dynamic ties with the women during the war
Directed by Peter Bramwell, the show will take place at Selsdon Hall on 26th-29th November.
A meet and greet event will take place with the director on Monday 27th July from 7:30pm at St Paul’s United Reform Church, South Croydon and auditions on 10th August at the same venue.
